DO NOT make them as modules, make them static. You might also try upgrading to gentoo-sources-2.4.20-r2. seems to be fixed with -r2 I am having the same problem. I wrote about this in the forums a few days ago. I have tried the gaming-r3 and gentoo-sources-r6 kernel (2.4.20 for both) but neither of them will boot. I experience the exact same hang. I tried the fixes in this bug report (compiling in the PDC20xxx stuff instead of making them modules) but it did not solve my issue. I continue to freeze. My link to the forum discussion is: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=115187&highlight= The forum link also has screenshots of the lockup when it happens. I've tried installing Gentoo 1.4 with Knoppix and now I've also tried it with the 1.2 LiveCD, both with the same results. I don't know how to resolve the lockup. Don't think it's fixed, unless I've done something enormously stupid. this bug - as it is - is fixed for your issue please open a new bug |
