1. all packages emerged fine
2. /opt/vmware/workstation/bin/vmware-config.pl works
3. /etc/init.d/vmware restart works
4. user is in vmware group

but start of vmware breaks with error:

What does:

LC_ALL=C vmware

give as output?  (I don't read German)

no problem left, just a bad configured system.
