mit-scheme-7.7.90 has been available for a number of years and has yet to reach portage. Only the SRC_URI and name of the current ebuild needs to be changed to support the newer version. I have been briefly using it and I'm yet to encounter any issues with it.

A patch against the current ebuild has been included.
