With the following in .bashrc (shouldn't matter what it's set to, just that it's
set)

export CDPATH=.:/usr/portage

The tiff-3.5.7-r1.ebuild failed during the install phase of the emerge. Turns
out that with CDPATH set, it will echo the pwd after every cd change, which for
the tiff ebuild, caused it to get echo'd into a generated Makefile used for
install (man/apps/Makefile specifically). Noticing this, I unset CDPATH, and the
emerge for tiff then succeeded.

This is the only ebuild I know to have failed, but I've had similar failures for
other ebuilds that I didn't track down. I suspect that this isn't the only
ebuild that is affected.

This is a duplicate of 14103. I should have done a better job of searching initially, sorry.
