Description Matt Keadle 2002-04-11 02:49:02 UTC
Product: Evolution 1.0.3-rc3

"emerge evolution" completed successfully after several attepts. Durring the
final emerge I was prompted to "Delete file MakeFile.old?", and it would not
continue untill I answered. I chose "y" and it completed successfully.

Running Evolution the first time started the druid (ximians term for wizard)
and I entered in my account settings. The druid completed succfully and I was
able to check my mail successfully. As I have other account I wanted to set
them up in Evo as well. I selected Tools, Mail Settings and I get a segfault
every time. The standard Gnome crash dialog appears and I select Close, then
Evo tells me the component that handles "mail" has quit and Evo needs to be
restarted.

There are a couple of bugs in bugzilla.ximian.org which seem related to this.

  http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=18971
  http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6322

6322 is interesting as it discusses Gentoo specifically.

Installing packages gob and gnome-pilot before installing evolution seem to
make evo work.
Comment 3 Spider (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-04-13 05:52:36 UTC
added the dependency on gob, gnome-pilot is the use of "pda"

Hope this solves this bug, since I'm not reproducing it here :/

Spider, try this if you haven't already:

  mv ~/evolution ~/evolution.original
  evolution

Then go through the wizard (just enter anything). Then once evolution is
started, choose mail settings from the tools menu. Let me know if it doesn't
crash at that point.
