HAd some other games not compiling because sdl-mixer did not compile. Found in the forums that re-emerging libsdl is a good thing. So I emerged libsdl and sdl-mixer, to get chromium to compile. Maybe some kind of check is needed for the chromium ebuild to see if sdl is working? You didn't revdep-rebuild when you were supposed to.
