I just downloaded and created a cd from the i686 iso from
gentoo.org. Tried to boot from it on my thinkpad 600 and get this
error message:
   Warning:unable to open initial console.
	EXT2-fs error(device ramdisk(1,0)): ext_2_check_page:
	bad entry in directory #3857: unaligned directory entry -offset=0, inode=715229300,
   rec_len=51738, name_len=182
	EXT2-fs error(device ramdisk(1,0)): ext_2_check_page: bad entry in
   directory #3845: directory entry across blocks - offset=0, inode=2112677348,
rec_len=56860,
	name_len=249
   kernel panic: Attempted to kill init!

I have been using redhat and mandrake previously. Just in case it is a bad cdr, I
downloaded the iso again and created another cd. Same error message.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction. I would really like to install
and use gentoo...

thanks

I seem to remember some fix for this in a more recent -ac kernel.

mmh, if you need more info I suggest getting in touch with the person on the
list who reported it, except for that I think we are done here. closing bug time?
