After upgrade to kernel gentoo-sources 2.6.19-r5 net-fs/shfs freezes when trying to provide information about large directories.

Unable to circumvent. Clean shutdown of OS compromised as cannot unmount filesystems

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Connect to remote
2.Attempt to display contents of directory of > 800 files (may be les, that always works)
3.Have tried with nautilus and with ls command, same problem

Actual Results:  
Application software connection to remote files system freezes (Nautilus and ls command both tried)

Could not unmount remote filesystem either. shfs module appears "frozen"

Expected Results:  
Directory contents should have been returned to app

This problem has only been observed since upgrade to gentoo-sources 2.6.19-r5

This software is in regular use to connect my development boxes (gentoo) to my production servers (FreeBSD) and I have found it pretty reliable until now.

Update:

The freeze is reproducible when trying to copy single, large files from small directories too, so presumably the hang is related to data volumes.

ctrl-c won't kill the cp command as it's the kernel module that's messed up.
