Bug 16633 – Portage-2.0.47-r7 ewarn issues?

When installing the latest (2.4.20-r1) version of gentoo-sources, the emerge
freezes towards the end of the process after printing out some warning messages.
The problem is caused by some "ewarn" statements in the ebuild that do not have
any arguments.

Deleting the empty ewarn statements from the ebuild cures the problem.

Try remerging portage, if that doesn't solve it, I'll edit the ebuild later.

This is a brand new install (i.e. the latest version of portage). I hacked up the ebuild myself so I don't need a patch. I just wanted you to be aware of this since it could have a major impact on the acceptance of 1.4.

If you could (even though you are on the latest -r of portage already) please remerge portage and then try the original gentoo-sources ebuild again...

That seems to have fixed the problem. What was going on there?

Someone in the neighborhood of carpaski and azarah knows... but I certainly do not... I just know that when I asked carpaski about a similar problem he said "remerge portage" so I did and it worked.  

Carpaski?
