Hi to all,

I am not sure wether this is a Gentoo issue. If it's my fault, just close it. ;-)

I just emerged media-gfx/wings-0.98.29b (stable on x86). Trying to run it from the command line, it gives the error "Failed to find any suitable OpenGL mode. Make sure that OpenGL drivers are installed." It writes a short crash dump to a file, which I can post upon request.
It keeps hanging without opening a window. [Ctrl]+[C] stops it and returns to the shell prompt. What is confusing me is that I, as far as I can see, have all necessary stable packages for OpenGL installed:

* media-libs/mesa 6.5.1-r1
* x11-drm 20060608-r1
* libdrm 2.0.2

glxgears runs (slowly, but anyway...). Output of glxinfo is attached.

I asked about the issue in the Wings3D forum, and they suggested to upgrade Mesa. But before fiddling with unstable packages, I want to ask here, since wings is marked stable.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Since wings is marked stable, this is obviously not reproducable on all machines. On mine, it's
$ su -c 'emerge wings'
$ wings
after a world update.
Actual Results:  
Wings shows an error on the command line and hangs. [Ctrl]+[C] stops it and returns to the prompt.

Expected Results:  
The wings application window should open.

I do not run a 3D workstation (not even close). It's a notebook with an old ATI adapter.

emerge libsdl with the "opengl" flag set

Alright, it works.

$ USE="opengl" emerge libsdl
$ wings

does the job. Recompiling of wings was not necessary.

As mentioned in bug 166282, the wings ebuild script should check for that flag. I'll leave the bug open for now.
