(In reply to comment #0) > I haven't been able to find any logfiles outlining any possible causes. So, we are supposed to have paranormal abilities, or? Not to mention that we can't fix anything w/ -bin. Have you tried to compile openoffice from source and check? Is there even an error log for openoffice? I've looked around but can't spot one. And even if there is a log would the error get written to it? When the app crashes everything locks up, no hard disk activity. At this stage I haven't got time available to try compiling from source yet, but I do intent to in a few weeks time. The reason I posted this bug report was to alert someone with a bit more knowledge than me that there is something not quite right going on. If I shouldn't have posted anything at all or if I have missed out something vital, then politely let me know and I'll either remove this report or find the missing information. I run openoffice 2.1.0 (non bin) and it hard locks X after no more than a few minutes worth of work. In fact no version of openoffice I've ever installed has been _usable_ on Gentoo. I just have to ask, does anyone successfully _use_ OO on Gentoo? With the way it runs for me, it should be hardmasked on amd64. works for me very well. I'm not sure if you're seeing an issue with the "use OpenGL for display" preferences, and buggy dri drivers (closed source nvidia or ati) @carl: try to get some debug info with strace and gdb, without these there is not a lot we can do. Also try Santiagos advice, we had such problems in the past. Having said that, if these advices don't help, you really should file this upstream. We take the binaries directly from openoffice.org so there is not a lot we can do about this. *** Bug 172688 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Do you still get this with 2.2.0? No feedback for a long time, closing |
