Description cburroughs 2007-01-29 16:54:54 UTC
quodlibet appears to be able to play music and perform other operations fine. However un-pausing music causes quodlibet to hang until killed. No increase in CPU usage is observed while hanging. I have tried disabling and removing my plugins to no effect. The same behavior happens when controlling from the command line with 'quodlibet --play-pause' and the GUI. This obviously makes it unusable as a music player.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open quodlibet
2. Play some tunes.
3. Pause.
4. Unpause
5. Hangs.

Actual Results:
 $ quodlibet
Supported formats: mp3, wav, xiph
Loaded song library.
Opening audio device.

It sometimes plays sound for a split second after Control-C.

Play music without dieing.

I confirmed the same behavior with 0.23.1-r1 and 0.24 . More importantly if I change my Gnome Sound Preferences -> Sound Playback from ESD to ALSA quodlibet no longer hangs. Quodlibet only hangs with ESD. I don't know if quodlibet is exposing a bug elsewhere or handling ESD improperly.

Does this bug still occur with version 1.0?
