If a file has eg. 0644 permissions before conversion, after unix2dos it has 0600.

$ ls -l autoinst.bat
-rw-r--r-- 1 jac users 140 sty 23 10:12 autoinst.bat
$ unix2dos autoinst.bat
unix2dos: converting file autoinst.bat to DOS format ...
$ ls -l autoinst.bat
-rw------- 1 jac users 140 sty 23 10:18 autoinst.bat

And version of unix2dos:
unix2dos 2.2 Copyright (c) 1994-1995 Benjamin Lin. (1995.03.31)

The same error is with dos2unix...
