Hi,

as per summary your package could use mirror://debian/ rather than pointing directly to ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/, this way if the distfile cannot be found on Gentoo mirrors, the user can still download it from a nearby mirror, if they got it configured (I do).

sed -i -e 's|ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/|mirror://debian/|' would likely do the trick.
