www-client/mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.1 (upto version -r2) does not have the green "go" button to the right of the url entry field in the address bar. This button is also not available while trying to configure the address bar. I assume this was removed  as part of the bon-echo'isation process. Can a replacement placeholder icon be created and used ? I (and many others) use this button very frequently while pasting urls into the address bar and pressing "go".

It's removed intentionally...

about:config -> browser.urlbar.hideGoButton -> false

Ah, that's much better. I searched the -users list and found no mention of this change. Why was it removed ? because of the bon-echoisation of firefox?

Nah, in short because users were bugging us about the useless button cluttering their address bar without any easy way to remove. It seems that almost noone is using it. :=)
