Enchant can use many backends (including myspell) which makes it more flexible. Using it in firefox would be better than myspell.

I do not have a patch. I asked if it can be done(for gentoo now)
Of course it can be sent to upstream.

Well, as there's nothing to forward upstream here and given our limited amount of mozilla maintainers, I'm closing this again. If you manage to produce a patch, then attach it here and reopen.
