When I try to emerge ftpfs on my Gentoo system, it faild when trying to update
/lib/modules/2.4.19/modules.dep.

Which kernel were you running as you tried to emerge ftpfs? Was it 2.4.19 or
some other kernel?

It was kernel-sources-2.4.19-r1 and kernel-headers-2.4.19-r1. The kernel was
unpatched.

then it should have booted a linux-2.4.19-r1 kernel, and the libraries are then
/lib/modules/2.4.19-r1/ 


odd. are you certain you had that kernel version -running- as well?

okies, I fixed this with a sed to remove the depmod stuff in the makefiles,
should be working now,
