Hi! It appears that I couldn't make use of the latest ati-drivers with my laptop so I started poking around and got to that point where I found out that fglrx doesn't support the R250 chipset. The very latest I could manage to get working was ati-drivers-8.28.8. Therefore I suggest that ebuilds above that exclude the R250 (maybe even R200?) chipset(s) from their descriptions. I'm also about to file another bug about making a new ebuild, ati-legacy-drivers so that we on "legacy" chipsets can have dri/3D a bit longer :) From console when trying to startx with unsupported chipset: X Window System Version 7.1.1 Release Date: 12 May 2006 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.1.1 Build Operating System: UNKNOWN Current Operating System: Linux Compix 2.6.19-gentoo-r2 #3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 28 09:16:08 CET 2006 i686 Build Date: 18 December 2006 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version.
