Description Kyle Hunter 2006-12-15 14:36:20 UTC
I've talked to the developers, and they say they have no plans for restricting online play to bin clients only. They will be trying to keep a uniform protocol for the source and binary version.

Alternate architectures, like AMD64 (Minus x86 emulation), could benefit from compiling from source. Heck, just add a bin useflag or something.

Thanks.

Provide a working ebuild and we'll use it instead. The build sucks so that's why the binaries are used currently.

I'm marking this LATER. If you have a working ebuild, reopen.
Comment 2 Paul Bredbury 2006-12-16 09:59:38 UTC
See source ebuilds in bug #111566. Please reopen.

sauerbraten-2006.12.04.ebuild is ugly as a version number - the source ebuilds show that it's trivial to remove the dots. And it should be renamed to sauerbraten-bin.

Working ebuild, although it could benefit from being merged with the ebuild in bug #111566 comment #31.

As brebs said, a fully working, and better-than-bin ebuild is on his link to bug 111566. I haven't tried brebs' version, though.
