The "-g" option disappeared from coreutils when upgrading my Gentoo Linux system from the 5.9 series to the latest stable 6.4.  I copy very large files quite often and it was useful to have a built-in gauge of the transfer rate and time left so that I could plan on doing other things.  It would be nice to have this patch re-added to bring it back to the 5.9 behavior.
