Another interesting info is that the pauses happen no matter the fact I'm watching DVDs. They happen every 15s sharp. Now, the question is, what in KDE does this? how can I test for these pauses? OK, found it! The source of the pauses was the mtaskbar package, which with screenshot option on, introduces a pause every 15 secs (probably when taking snapshots). I'd be interested in experiences with mtaskbar 0.7, with screenshots on. Do you have the same issue? Should this bug be closed and a new one for mtaskbar opened or this isn't considered a bug? To test: - emerge -a mtaskbar - Add to panel - Configure taskbarv2 - Add the screenshot option - Start a movie or dvd or something that let's you check for a pause (note, sound is not paused). Now, just, wait 15 secs. Do you see a pause in the flow of the image? Note: you cannot notice it in your daily activities, except when watching a movie. However it seems to be it is always present. I'm not using mtaskbar. What bug do you want to claim for mtaskbar? Uses too much CPU when it makes a screenshot? Well, although I would love this to be a bug and the mtaskbar team to fix it, maybe you're right and there's nothing it can be done. Still, I have a pentium4 2.2 Ghz, DRI enabled 1Gb RAM. I was expecting such a thing to run smoothly. No bugs here it seems. |
