I am having the same exact problem as described in this post, and using the latter (unsafe) solution, I'm able to get it working.

This is just a hack - the real problem is in the rpc.statd daemon, whether on client or server side. I would like someone to take a look at why this is still happening since several people depend on remote home directories mounted over NFS in my company.
