Do you have ffmpeg installed? Which version? Did you try to (re)emerge it?
Comment 3 Lóránt Farkas 2006-12-01 01:53:29 UTC
upgrading ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20060530 to ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20061016 (because I use mplayer-1.0_rc1 using x264_20061014) solved the problem.
Comment 4 Anthony Knittel 2007-04-05 16:11:38 UTC
i'm getting the same bug using the latest stable transcode 1.0.2-r3 with the latest stable ffmpeg (0.4.9_p20070129). i've tried rebuilding ffmpeg but it doesn't help. also tried ~x86 transcode (transcode-1.0.3_rc2_p20070310-r1) but no luck.

Comment 5 Anthony Knittel 2007-04-06 04:49:14 UTC
additional information- in the configure process (for transcode 1.0.2-r3) it outputs:

checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h usability... yes
checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h presence... yes
checking for ffmpeg/avcodec.h... yes
checking how to determine LIBAVCODEC_LIBS... default
checking for avcodec_thread_init in -lavcodec... yes
error: transcode needs at least libavcodec build 4718install ffmpeg 0.4.9-pre1 or newer, or a cvs version after 20040703chec

so its complaining that it needs a ffmpeg after 20040703. it gives the same output when i'm using ffmpeg 0.4.9_p20070330 and 0.4.9_p20070129, and also for transcode 1.0.3_rc2_p20070310-r1

i think this should probably be re-opened but not sure how
Comment 6 Anthony Knittel 2007-04-06 05:37:29 UTC
oops.. i think i have an old version of ffmpeg kicking around (in /usr/local) that i had to install from source a long time ago and forgot about. thats probably the problem, sorry for the confusion.

now to figure out how to de-install it, there's no 'make uninstall' option, but a re-install should point out all the files it made.
