Description Piotrek 2006-11-26 07:40:11 UTC
Hi.
Last week i have upgraded my KDE to version 3.5.5 an found some strange errors in my xorg.0.log

xkb_types { include "%" };
xkb_compatibility { include "%" };
xkb_symbols { include "%" };
xkb_geometry { include "%" };
(EE) Error loading keymap /usr/share/X11/xkb/compiled/server-0.xkm

I will attach it below.I also have problem with kxkb when i swich it on and set keyboard layout to polish everything working great to next restart of KDE.After restart my keybord is hanging up and only ctrl an Fn keys working other keys no.
I found many similar topic's on forum but any of the resolution from there are not working.
I also recompiled the all X-11 system and change xkb to xkeyboard-config.
I am attaching my emerge --info xorg.conf and logs from xorg.
Please help me becose i dont know what happened :( (sorry for my poor english)
Greetings Peter

I have the same thing but I use Gnome. It happened after the last upgrage (emerge -Du world). After starting the X server (gdm greeter) the keybord doesn't work. But if I restart the X server (via remote console) the keyboard is deblocked. I have changed xkeyboard-config to xkbdata (taken from here http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Modular_Xorg ). Now it starts with the keyboard, but I can't switch the terminals while I an in greeter (Ctrl+Alt+Fx doesn't work). It start to work after login ...

Could you both paste the results of 'ls -l /usr/share/X11/xkb/compiled/', please.

Is this still an issue for you guys in X 7.2? Please re-open once you've tried.
Comment 7 Piotrek 2007-01-28 21:11:49 UTC
Partial Fix only the log is clean now.
But my keyboard still hangs up.
When i enable in my Kcontrol keyboard layout switch then i cannot type any polish letters for example ąąęęę and after restart of KDE my keyboard hangs up.
The KDE 3.5.6 didn't resolve this problem.
Comment 8 Piotrek 2007-01-28 22:52:48 UTC
Small Update:
I am losing ability to type characters with right alt when i type in console
setxkbmap -option eurosign:5,altwin:meta_win for example.
Comment 9 Peter Alfredsen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-31 14:13:27 UTC
I had a problem like that once. I was using the wrong locale (en_DK, I think) which made kde go all screwy. What's the output of "locale"?
Comment 10 Piotrek 2007-01-31 16:53:12 UTC
piotr@Wenus ~ $ locale
LANG=
LC_CTYPE="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="pl_PL.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=pl_PL.UTF-8
Comment 11 Piotrek 2007-01-31 17:14:46 UTC
Update
I made some test and this is not locale problem.
I think there is conflict between xkblayout from Xorg.conf and sett-ed by KXKB.
When i changed xkblaypout from "pl" to "pl_PL" i cannot type polish letters in KDE
when KXKB is not active and sets a correct layout "pl" when is running i can reset KDE and nothing is hangs up
Comment 12 Piotrek 2007-01-31 17:25:01 UTC
Sorry but I made some mistakes.
It should be "when Kxkb is active" not "is not active"
Greatings Peter
Comment 13 Piotrek 2007-02-01 09:43:04 UTC
Eh.
It changed situation only to full system restart after that keyboard is still locking up.
Comment 14 Piotrek 2007-02-01 13:37:35 UTC
First at all im sorry for this post monologue.
Finally i know what's up :-) It is problem with my KDE profile.
Because when I add another user to system and login as this user nothing is hanging up.
I think mayby something screwed up when i was migrating from KDE 3.4 to 3.5
Anyway the resolution of strange messages in xorg.log is migrate to 7.2 version of xorg server.
Marking bug as Fixed.
