A collegue of mine started complaining after I used kopete from KDE 3.5.5. It seems he's getting extra newlines when I send messages to him. After switching to a different kopete theme and restarting kopete it seemed resolved, but this morning it started again.

He means you should file the bug at bugs.kde.org so the kopete devs can see it and make the proper fix :)
