I can not compile libao with uclibc. Tested with uclibc-0.9.28, uclibc-0.9.28-r1 +uclibc-compat, libao-0.8.5, libao-0.8.6-r2 

stingray src #   emerge -av --oneshot libao

uhm, might not be a good idea to use -ffast-math from libao.
