I also have a via82xx but with alsa-driver rc7 I get sound but with some noise, downgrading to rc6 brings everything back to normal. rc8 also borks out the sound Do you suppose that this is a Gentoo-specific issue, or perhaps this bug should be filed with the ALSA guys? If you have any reason to think that it's the former, please reopen this bug. Otherwise, I don't think that I can help you in any way. :( The version that comes from alsa is the same right? So it must be something else related to Gentoo.. Perhaps a patch? I'll have a look at the ebuild later. Are you saying that if you compile the alsa packages by hand, you don't get this problem? Or else what do you mean by: "The version that comes from alsa is the same..." Thanks. I thought that the rcX was refering to the ebuild's version, so I guess the issue must be takin' to ALSA themselfes. The missing sound problem went away in rc8 so this may well have been an up stream problem. There appears to have been some changes made in the via82xx modules and a lot of trouble shooting discussion on the alsa-devel list over the last several months. I think you can leave this one closed as a Gentoo bug unless others have problems. FYI Derk |
