Please see attached patch to the sources of gkrellmms-2.1.22, which makes it work fine with Audacious instead of xmms, when the USE_AUDACIOUS environment variable is set prior calling make.

gkrellmms is a plugin for gkrellmms that offers a frontend for the xmms media player. Since xmms is about to be removed, and already is hardmasked, I'd like to see my patch applied to the sources, and a USE-Flag 'audacious' added to the gkrellmms ebuild, to go on using it. 

Upstream author of gkrellmms is informed.

I was about to post a bug about this. I've tried it and it really works. (-: gkrellmms was the main thing keeping me from switching away from XMMS.
