Can you use any java applets in your normail mozilla/seamonkey/firefox install? (java.sun.com has java applets) It's a java issue, and I don't have any java available, so that makes it a bit hard to debug here... Java applets appear to work fine in Firefox and in Epiphany. Checked the following URL: http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/demo/applets/ArcTest/example1.html Works in both Firefox and Epiphany, but if I try to load it in Liferea, it causes the described crash. I assume you're using the mozilla renderer. If you switch to the gtkhtml renderer, it won't try to load the java, which should work around the problem (although the gtkhtml renderer is somewhat crashy...) I'll report this upstream. Can't this bug be closed as the whole 1.1.x branch isn't in portage anymore? Odd that 1.0.24 is in it anyway. Yes, it can be closed. I am experiencing this with liferea-1.4.13 on an ~x86 system, currently looking for the cause. This was beginning to annoy me too, so I started digging. I rebuilt nspr but changed the way the symbol was being exported from the DSO (I am not an expert on GCC nor the linux loader) with the macro PR_IMPLEMENT sent to normal unix export everything (ie. removed the visibilty("default") and this works for the moment but I suspect I should read up on the way symbols are exported from DSO's with the visibility flag. (In reply to comment #6) > I am experiencing this with liferea-1.4.13 on an ~x86 system, currently looking > for the cause. > *** Bug 214707 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** More reading: https://bugs.launchpad.net/democracy/+bug/98725 I (member of Java) have no insight (yet). Comment 7 suggests it's something in mozilla packages? But could be just a workaround, so not sure yet who should fix and what :) Sorry for the spam, I can't click today :( Bug #214707 Like I said in bug #214707, net-news/liferea-1.4.14 keep crashing. Re-emerged : - dev-libs/nspr-4.7 - dev-libs/nss-3.11.9 - dev-python/gnome-python-extras-2.19.1-r1 and revdep-rebuild, still crashing. Tried to gdb liferea, but it crash without coredump. Is this still an issue? I have tested with stable dev-java/sun-jdk-1.6.0.17 , net-news/liferea-1.4.28-r1 , dev-libs/nspr-4.8 and have no problems. (In reply to comment #12) > Is this still an issue?
