If have imap in my USE list. I also have courier-imap installed.

When I do a "emerge -pu --deep world", I get:
  Calculating world dependencies ...done!
  [ebuild  N   ] net-mail/uw-imap-2001a-r2

If I remove the imap keyword, I don't get the uw-imap line.

Since I already have an imap server, I should not be asked to install uw-imap.

Browsing the bug database, I found bug 72. I do have php installed on my system. I either I didn't set the imap keyword when I installed php or I had UW and unmerged it.

So this bug can be marked INVALID.
I suggest to look at bug 15602 that I just opened to prevent this kind of confusion
