Description Thomas Cort (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-17 18:02:21 UTC
Please add the following system to the mirrors list and give it access to the master distfiles mirror...

System: AMD64 Athlon 4000+ (2.4 GHz), 1 GB RAM, 160 GB SATA HD
Bandwidth: Full dedicated 10Mbps Tier 1 Bandwidth on a private VLAN
URL: http://distfiles.larrythecow.com
IP: 72.232.237.138
Admin: Thomas Cort
Admin E-Mail: tcort@gentoo.org
Location: Texas, USA (Central Time, GMT-6)
rsyncs with ftp.ussg.iu.edu::gentoo-distfiles
rsyncs at 0:00, 4:00, 8:00, 12:00, 16:00, 20:00

The mirror is using a robust little script called rsync-gentoo-sources.sh which I got from from chutzpah@g.o. It does logging and some locking to prevent a second rsync from starting when one is in progress.

I've added anonymous ftp access to this server. 20 user limit.
Comment 2 Thomas Cort (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-24 16:43:22 UTC
I forgot to mention that the virtual host (distfiles.larrythecow.com) has a 15 user limit.
Comment 3 Thomas Cort (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-08 06:24:07 UTC
It looks like there are already enough mirrors in the US with a lot more bandwidth than me. Rather than cluttering up the listings or creating work for the mirror-admins@g.o, I'll just keep my mirror unofficial. If there is ever a mirror shortage in the US or the US servers are too slow, I'll re-open this bug.
