after upgrading app-arch/rpm to 4.4.6-r1 and running rpm to check if things were ok, I was blessed with: error: Unable to open ${exec_prefix}/lib/rpm/rpmrc for reading: No such file or directory. as the previous ebuild has been removed, there's no (easy) way back..
