Description Adam Piątyszek 2006-10-15 12:03:10 UTC
Hi Markus,

I have just published a new bug-fix release of IT++ (3.10.6). So, please bump the itpp ebuild in Gentoo as well.

This is quite important bug-fix release, since one major linking problem was solved. Previous IT++ releases have undefined non-weak symbols in the output shared library. You can check this using "ldd -r /usr/lib/libitpp.so.2.2.0". Besides, it includes a set of other internal fixes (no interface changes).

Therefore, I would recommend marking it stable for x86 as soon as possible. It would be great, if recently added amd64 platform consider itpp stabilisation as well.

Thanks in advance!

BR,

Hi Adam,

Thanks for the note and I hope I can get to it tonight!
Let then stabilize this version on x86 and amd64 as
soon as the required 30 "bug-less" days are passed.
(stabling it earlier would require that there is a major
security issue or sth along these lines).

Thanks,
Markus

Thanks for your prompt answer! It is the highest time to add your name to the "hall of fame" list of IT++ contributors ;-)

Sure, this can certainly wait another month, since this linkin bug has not been found by anyone for more than year! The Fedora Extras project devs identified this problem when they prepared RPM packages last week.

After having this stable, we can remove the previous IT++ versions from the portage tree.

/Adam

Hi Adam,

Thanks, and I have to thank you for always keeping me up to date :)
I've just bumped itpp in portage cvs and set the timer to x-30 days.

cheers,
Markus

Hi Adam,

Thanks for staying on top of things; I haven't forgotten about it -
as a matter of fact my Korganizer daemon kindly reminded me this morning ;)
I'll do it either tomorrow or this weekend.

Best,
Markus
