I'm using "lp -P 1,3" from inside the xpdf print box.  The result is

xpdf: symbol lookup error: xpdf: undefined symbol: _ZN11PSOutputDevC1EPcP4XRefP7Catalogii9PSOutModeiiiiiiii

with nothing being printed. Evince, for example will print, but has no provision that allows the printing of pages 1 and 3 with a single request, and this used to work with xpdf.

Eh, go recompile xpdf and all its dependencies with sane flags, like C[XX]FLAGS="-O2 -march=opteron -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer", and reopen if it still doesn't work.

I hadn't realized I was using insane flags.  I picked them up from a recommendation posted someplace!  Anyway this fixed the problem.  Thanks!
