Description Marcin Gondek 2006-10-05 12:15:46 UTC
Hello,

I just started a IPv6 only mirror with rsync (gentoo-portage).
Mirror is updated every 30min from the master europe site.
Rsync is serving on the IPv6 protocol only. DNS is gentoo.mirror.ipv6.e-utp.net which only contains AAAA entry, so when someone with IPv4 will try to connect the it will get NXDOMAIN.

Site is located in DataCenter in Germany, 100Mbit connection, IPv6 connectivity is based by SiXXS - EasyNet (very good IPv6 backbone). Latency to the tunnelbroker is about 15ms - it's quote good.

Any suggestion are welcome.

At the moment I don't think we have a DNS rotation for IPv6 *only* mirrors in Europe although some folks seem to be running an unofficial one through another ticket on Bugzilla, heh. :)

This is clearly something we need to consider more thoroughly!

If you're still interested in running the mirror, that's great, but could you reply to the bug and let me know everything is still alive?

It's alive.
Some people using it.
Comment 3 Alex Smith 2008-01-16 12:10:06 UTC
Added it to the "Unofficial" IPv6 Only List, thanks for the email.

Consolidating the IPv6 stuff.

Hi, this bug is approaching 2 years since the last comment. Since then, we have added IPv6 to the normal rotations. I'm going to close this bug. Thanks so much for the volunteer bandwidth/services.
