I emerged subversion and ran basic configuration.

The config files all had spaces before all the variables, thus making the server not work.  I fixed this by eliminating the spaces.

I think it would save a lot of confusion for the default files to lack the spaces.

Which version? What configuration did your? Which files are you talking about? Please describe your problem so that we can actually reproduce and fix it.

I used svnserve, and used emerge --config.
