Hi,
I used googleearth on my x86 machine without problems but on my Turion Laptop all I get is the splash screen and a high CPU usage. Emerge is without any troubles. I also tried the bin installation offerd by google itself with same result.

* AMD Turion
* ati-driver 8.28.8
* xorg 7.0-r1
* googleearth 4_beta

Ask Google, sorry be we can't fix binary-only stuff.

Try downgrading your ati-drivers to version 8.27.10-r1, it solved the problems in this case:
