Description Yan-Fa Li 2006-09-19 22:35:21 UTC
In previous baselayouts IP aliasing worked. Now it doesn't. Here's my /etc/conf.d/net file:

bastet ~ # cat net.backup
# This blank configuration will automatically use DHCP for any net.*
# scripts in /etc/init.d. To create a more complete configuration,
# please review /etc/conf.d/net.example and save your configuration
# in /etc/conf.d/net (this file :]!).

config_eth0=( "192.168.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 mtu 1500"
              "70.0.143.157 netmask 255.255.255.248 mtu 1480"
              "adsl")

The first entry assigns to eth0, the adsl interface comes up, the second entry does not come up as eth0:1.

There's no such thing like eth0:1 w/ iproute2. Run 'ip address show' to see your IP addresses.

Jakub is right, this bug is invalid - and a curse on Linux for having this monstrosity :/
Comment 3 Yan-Fa Li 2006-09-20 09:51:02 UTC
sorry, I never got the memo. Never mind. Thanks.
