Description James 2003-01-30 12:29:34 UTC
It's a suggestion.

It's hard to locate the "packages" link listed on the left side of the web page.

Once inside the "packages" page, there is no way to search for a specific package.

Just a thought,

J

I second this: it /used/ to be possible to see a single-page package list, so one could use one's browser/finder to find a given package, but then that single-list page disappeared, and now one has to blunder blindly, being menu-bludgeoned MS-style in the /hopes/ that one will sooner-or-later discover what version of a package it is that is unmasked... or..
if one doesn't fine one's intended package, one can either guess that the package isn't included at all, or
one can guess that it's masked...

monstrously wrong, that "improvement"...

if someone would like to write and submit a searchable package interface that is scalable, we would be happy to look at implementing it. For now, however, users may use 'emerge -s <search term>' to search their local portage tree.
