(In reply to comment #0) > For some reason I cannot seem to get emerge to accept > xine-lib-1.1.3_pre20060831 as an update. echo "=media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.3_pre20060831" >> /etc/portage/package.unmask Thanks. I haven't updated in ages and seem to have lost most of my gentoo-knowledge as a result. I'm building a current xine-lib and xine-ui to confirm the problem with the most recent versions in portage. Confirmed that xine-lib-1.1.3_pre20060831 with xine-ui-0.99.5_pre20060716 installed have the same video sync problem as xine-lib-1.1.2-r2 and xine-ui-0.99.4-r6. Sorry if I'm doing this all wrong, I can't find a page telling me the proper protocol for using this bug site. I just wanted to add that I have the same problem on my amd64 system, and I notice it not just with DVD's but when I listen to music in amarok as well. The engine I use in amarok is xine-lib (and I can't seem to make it use gstreamer, but that's another issue.) It seems to chop off about half a second from the beginning of all my songs. A lot of songs have silence at the beginning but some of my tracks start with music right at the beginning so it can be very annoying. I finally found out a workaround for watching dvd's from the forum page mentioned above, using the 'm' key in xine-ui to adjust the sync. I have found that I need to set it to .4 seconds. I also have the same exact DVD problem if I use kmplayer and set the engine to xine but not if I set it to mplayer. Sot it is very much a xine-lib issue. Hope something in there helps someone fix this, and if someone could point me to the Gentoo bugzilla "read this first" or FAQ telling me how to be helpful without getting in the way, I promise to read it. Can you check with current snapshot of xine-lib? I'm not really seeing these issues so I'm not sure how I can fix them, but there's a bug open upstream already, so I'll track it from there. |
