Hi!

Please find attached hobbit-4.2.0.ebuild, a generic Makefile, init script, and Apache module conf that will allow for installation of Hobbit on Gentoo.

Hobbit is a tool for monitoring servers, applications and
networks. It collects information about the health of your computers, the
applications running on them, and the network connectivity between them. All of
this information is presented in a set of simple, intuitive webpages that are
updated frequently to reflect changes in the status of your systems.

This ebuild will install both the Hobbit server, and a local Hobbit client to
monitor the host machine.

I suggest net-analyzer/hobbit.  Also please note recent Bug# 145464, which installs just the hobbit-client portion.  Perhaps we can merge both projects, allowing for client-only installations via a "client-only" USE flag.

hobbit Makefile

Hobbit does not provide a pre-made Makefile, instead you build one when installing from source, with ./configure --server or --client, the script asks the user some questions and compiles the data into a Makefile.

This file includes the generic Makefile rules, while the ebuild inputs custom variables such as hostname, IP address, etc.

This ebuild still does not install with MAKEOPTS="-j2".
Does install with MAKEOPTS="-j1"

It seems that project is deprecated in favor of xymon - http://sourceforge.net/projects/xymon/
