Description Neil Leathers 2006-08-18 16:14:50 UTC
I change the LINGUAS setting and re-emerge mozilla-firefox at the following version and flags using --newuse

www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.5.0.5 USE="gnome java mozdevelop -debug -ipv6 -xinerama -xprint" LINGUAS="ar ca cs da de el en_GB es es_AR es_ES fi fr ga ga_IE he hu it ko mk nb nb_NO nl pl pt_BR ro ru sk sl sv sv_SE tr zh_CN zh_TW -ja"

Previously the user interface was in english, now it comes up in a diferrent language (I suspect ar).

In my environment I have the locale set to en_CA and this has not changed. (ie LC_ALL=en_CA.utf8, etc.)

The problem is that I had set the locale for my user to something I could use and that re-emerging through --newuse discarded the setting or caused mozilla to ignore that setting.

Also, the default value for the property "general.useragent.locale" was "ar" when viewed from the url "about:config"

This is not a bug. If you want something different, don't put "ar" as your first LINGUAS.
