Description Remco B. Brink 2003-01-20 19:42:56 UTC
When installing transcode-0.6.3.20030116, Avifile 0.7.25.20030114 will be installed due to dependencies. Emerge will install the latest version of avifile, but then downgrade to the 0.7.15.20020816-r1 version of AviFile due to dependencies.

marking this as invalid

from transcode
	avi? (	<=media-video/avifile-0.7.22
 >=media-video/avifile-0.7.4 )

latest stable version of avifile is 0.7.15

don't use emerge -u world, just update the packages you need
Comment 2 Remco B. Brink 2003-01-21 10:42:50 UTC
There's a bunch of packages that insist on downgrading currently installed ebuilds, there is however already a patch for emerge that fixes this behaviour. It's mentioned in bug 12069.

i added avi? (	<=media-video/avifile-0.7.22
 >=media-video/avifile-0.7.4 )

CAUSE transcode doesn't compile with gcc 2.95.3 and avifile 0.7.25

after compiling transcode, you can upgrade again to avifile
