Although it is reporting it can't find plugins, this doesn't seem to cause it.
I can go to sites with/without java/flash, and it doesn't crash.

However, simply clicking a normal hyperlink, or opening/closing a tab can cause it to crash.
Sometimes it's OK for hours. Sometimes within a few minutes of opening.
It might be that it's to do with sites using AJAX to auto-refresh certain things - but I have no evidence that this is it.

This has happened for me ever since 1.5.x.
Currently running 1.5.0.5
It's really annoying, and I'd love to get it fixed. Nothing like typing something lengthy, only to have it barf.
I am running vserver patches on this box, but I've run them for a while, and never had this problem. Of course, if necessary, I'll boot up a vanilla kernel and try it.

This is doing my head in.

Never had FF crash before 1.5. And the -bin builds were pretty good.

Anyone have any ideas how I can track down what's happening?
Comment 2 Stuart Longland (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-16 19:09:32 UTC
If it's the binary version of Mozilla, then that would mean an issue you'd have to take upstream.

As I lack an AMD64 rig to test on though, I can't really confirm or deny the bug myself. AMD64: Any ideas?

Also, do you have the same issue with the source-based ebuild?
Comment 3 Calum 2006-09-17 08:49:39 UTC
I reported it here, as I assume it's a Gentoo binary build - but I could be wrong.
It's mozilla-firefox-bin, by the way.

I haven't tried the source distro, as you can't get various plugins working if you're AMD64 with that.

My Mozilla Feedback agent is littered with crashes - it's bad.
Comment 4 Simon Stelling (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-12 05:11:21 UTC
The -bin is taken from upstream, so as long as the error is not in the ebuild, there is nothing we can do about it. You will have to take this to the mozilla bugtracker, I'm afraid.
