net-ftp/ftp-0.17-r6 has a strange problem. When I run ftp it doesn't work, but if I run /usr/bin/ftp it works.

# ftp ftp.abcphoto.com
# /usr/bin/ftp ftp.abcphoto.com

works fine here and most other places

you didnt really post any info ... like `emerge info` is totally not posted

try running it through strace and see what's up

sorry, it was so weird, I didn't know what to do and I didn't think emerge --info would help much.

What the hell? It works now. Well I should have done an strace before, that would have been a good idea. I'll try reproducing it exactly the way I caused the problem before, which was through an ssh connection from work. Not sure if that will make any difference.
