I run kylix2 which requires it binary and libs directory to be in the ld.so.conf
file.  I entered that entry into ld.so.conf and ran ldconfig.  Everything works
fine.  But whenever I emerge anything, it rewrites over the ld.so.conf file and
removes my kylix2 settings.  A real pain!

Portage-1.8.9_pre36.ebuild.

Add your settings to a file in the /etc/env.d directory.  Sorry for the delay in
replying.

/etc/env.d/20kylix:

LDPATH=/path/to/kylix/libs

Problem solved. :)
