Description Jorge Gomes Raimundo 2006-07-21 12:11:02 UTC
Hi!!!

I've tryed to install Gentoo using the live CD, but after booting with the CD and choosing "gentoo", then the screen remains blank and nothing happens.
If I chose "gentoo nox" I get the same behaviour.

I have an Acer 1694 WLMi with 1 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon X700 128 Mb PCIE, Pentium M 2.0...

Don't know what else to say to help...

Thanks :)

Which CD are you using, exactly?

I downloaded it from the link bellow:

When booting with the "gentoo-nofb" (I press Alt+F1 to try to select another keyboard), it says:

Loading gentoo..........................
Loading gentoo.igz.............................
Ready.
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

[dead]
Nothing more happens and those messages stay in the screen with a blinking cursor...

After several attempts, I finally discovered what was missing. The "noapic" was the trick.

Sorry to have bothered you guys with this.

You can close this one...

Thanks :)
