Description qd.smits 2006-07-19 06:08:06 UTC
I get the following error while compiling the i810 driver (version 1.6.0) on multiple systems.

I'm currently using all the newest packages and the older i810 driver, it works, but it crashes or hangs at randomly, I'd appreciate a fix.

i830_driver.c: In function 'I830BIOSPreInit':
i830_driver.c:3544: error: 'I810shadowSymbols' undeclared (first use in this function)
i830_driver.c:3544: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
i830_driver.c:3544: error: for each function it appears in.)

Comment 1 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-19 18:25:40 UTC
This is likely a bug in the non-DRI build of the driver. Is there any reason you're building without DRI?
Comment 2 qd.smits 2006-07-20 00:24:12 UTC
Probably because I copy my own make.conf, which I use on my desktop pc which has an Nvidia graphics card, to every Gentoo system I install for myself.

Trying to compile xorg-server and this driver with USE="dri" enabled right now.
Comment 3 qd.smits 2006-07-20 00:52:33 UTC
Adding the dri useflag fixed it for me, thanks!
Comment 4 qd.smits 2006-07-20 14:04:12 UTC
Tried in on my laptop, works as well, and also received a confirmation message trough the forums from another user with the same problem, fixed it for him as well.

Should this stay open because of the bug in the non-dri build or is this not usefull because no one in their right mind (like me) would compile without it?
Comment 5 Joshua Baergen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-07-23 11:06:33 UTC
We may as well leave it closed. Upstream is aware of -dri breaking some builds, but they're not particularly motivated to fix it.
