I found a forum post discussing this: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-480232-highlight-goom.html According to the post, installing gst-plugins-good fixes this issue, so this might simply be a missing dependency. I have not tried this myself yet, but I will and report if it does indeed fix the issue.
