Description Alejandro Benitez 2006-07-10 20:34:44 UTC
Hi,

Gentoo ebuilds for emacs-cvs patched with multi-tty support are available at:

http://darcs.thehatcher.com/browse-tree/misc/hobbiton-ebuilds%7Capp-editors/emacs-cvs

... but they don't support modular X.

I tried to add it myself but had no luck.

Please add multi-tty support to emacs-cvs-22.* ebuilds. emacs-cvs-23.* ebuilds soon wont need the patch since it will be merged into emacs 23 sometime in the future.

Many thanks in advance.

I haven't tried this patch. How fast changing is it? If I included a fast changing patch on a fast changing ebuild, (ie. emacs from CVS) am I going to be in for a lot of maintenance work?

Below there is a directory listing of every mtty patch file released
http://lorentey.hu/downloads/emacs/multi-tty/

About the maintenance work... before Gentoo switched to modular X I just had modify the MULTI_TTY_DATE and MULTI_TTY_REV variables in the ebuild in order to keep the things up-to-date.

BTW, beware...
...that mtty patch needs to checkout a fixed-date version of emacs in order to ensure success.
...that Emacs 22 won't officially support multi-tty so maybe in the near future the patch might become imcompatible.
